McCabe 'Excited' For Playoff Run
Bryan McCabe had hoped to be traded to the Rangers three years ago when the Maple Leafs dealt him.
Instead, he landed with the Panthers, who eventually moved him to New York this past week.
"Things didn't work out [back then] but I'm glad they did now," McCabe said. "I'm really excited to be here."
McCabe played his first game as a Ranger Sunday at Madison Square Garden against the Lightning.
He was scoreless, but had two shots on goal.
Ottawa Claims Svatos Off Waivers
The Senators were the only team to go shopping on the waiver list Thursday, claiming winger Marek Svatos from the Predators.
Other players on the list -- Nikolay Zherdev, Craig Rivet, Jeremy Colliton and Ales Kotalik -- all cleared waivers Thursday.
Thrashers Re-Sign GM Dudley
The Thrashers have re-signed general manager Rick Dudley to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.
Dudley was originally hired by the club as an associate general manager in June 2009, but was promoted to general manager last April after Don Waddell was bumped up to team president.
"Rick has a proven track record of building successful teams and is dedicated to improving the Thrashers and constructing a perennial contender," Waddell said in a statement.
"He has already taken great strides with our club and is committed to infusing our roster with key players. He has truly earned this opportunity and we look forward to his continued leadership."
Ducks Recall Emery From Syracuse
The Ducks have recalled Ray Emery from AHL Syracuse.
He is slated to back up Curtis McElhinney for Wednesday night's game against the visiting Kings.
Emery went 2-1-0 with the Anaheim's AHL farm team in Syracuse this month, sporting a .925 save percentage and 2.62 goals-against average.
Quenneville Back At Chicago's Practice
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville returned to practice on Wednesday after missing four games because of an ulcer.
Quenneville, 52, spent four days in the hospital, receiving treatment for gastrointestinal bleeding caused by a small ulcer.
Chicago is 3-1 under assistant coach Mike Haviland.
Pegula's Goal Is Cup For Sabres
New Sabres owner Terry Pegula said Lindy Ruff will stay on as coach and promised general manager Darcy Regier a blank check for a winning team.
As the NHL announced the approval of Pegula's purchase of the team Tuesday, the natural gas billionaire said Buffalo's reason for being, from now on, will be to win a Stanley Cup.

Souray Clears Waivers, Stays In AHL
Sheldon Souray cleared re-entry waivers Monday, leaving the veteran defenseman stuck in the AHL for now.
The Oilers placed Souray on re-entry waivers Saturday hoping the demand for defensemen around the league ahead of next Monday's trade deadline would inspire a club to take a chance on Souray -- especially since re-entry waivers means he would only come at half his remaining contract and salary.
Tootoo Gets OK To Play During Treatment
Predators forward Jordin Tootoo has been cleared to play again while he continues treatment in a substance-abuse and behavioral-health program.
Tootoo voluntarily entered the program run by the league and the players' association on Dec. 27.
Quenneville Released From Hospital
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville was released from the hospital on Saturday.
"Joel was released from the hospital today and is resting comfortably at home," Blackhawks head team physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement.
"We will continue to monitor him and still anticipate a full recovery. We are working to determine when it is best for him to return to his coaching duties."
Chicago's next game is Sunday against Pittsburgh.
Assistant Mike Haviland has been coaching the team.
Quenneville To Miss Second Game
